BetVictor was founded in 1931 by William Chandler, owner of Walthamstow Stadium which was a greyhound racing venue in East London. After William Chandler's death in 1946, his sons Victor Sr. and Jack took over the company. When Victor Sr. passed away unexpectedly in 1974, his son Victor Jr., who was working in Spain’s hospitality sector, took the reins of the business.
In 1998, the company moved its headquarters to Gibraltar to bypass the UK's gambling taxes. In 2004, the company rebranded as "VC Bet," but reverted to the name "Victor Chandler" by the end of 2008. In 2012, aiming for global market consistency and recognition, it went through another rebranding, adopting the name "BetVictor." In May 2014, businessman and significant shareholder Michael Tabor took control of the company.
