Tote Deposit Guide - Payment Methods for 2024

Last Updated: 26 March 2024, Author: AceOdds.com

Deposit a minimum of £5 into your account instantly with your Visa or Mastercard debit card.

Tote works slightly differently from a regular betting site as funds go into the Tote Pool, from which payments are made if your bet wins. However, you can still use a sign up bonus to maximise the value of your initial deposit and claim Tote Credit.

The Terms and Conditions state you can only have 2 deposit methods registered to your account at a time, one should be a card, and the other can be an e-wallet. But on contacting customer services Tote advise they currently only accept debit cards.

With limited payment options available, there is little to go wrong, but it's still worth checking out our article on withdrawing from Tote before you make a deposit.

Deposit at least £5 using a debit card registered in your name.

Tote accepts debit cards for your first and future deposits, but you can only have 1 card registered to your account at any time, so if you need to change the card, you will have to remove one.

The minimum deposit of £5 is lower than found at other sites, and if you plan to use the welcome bonus, then check the terms and conditions as a higher deposit may be required.

How to Deposit Funds

When you create your account, you will be offered the opportunity to deposit funds immediately. If you choose not to deposit at that time or want to top up your funds later, then the add funds option can be found on the top right of the menu bar, next to the account icon.

When you select the deposit option, you will first be taken to your account screen and asked to choose how much you wish to deposit. This screen also allows you to set deposit limits, which we will discuss later.

Deposit limits can be set for a day, a week or a month to whatever value you choose.
On the same page, you can also set a daily, weekly or monthly loss limit. This won't affect your deposits, but if your losses get too high, you will be restricted from gambling.

There are also methods available to manage your time on the site. Reality checks offer pop-up reminders, and if you are struggling to control your gambling, you can choose from a temporary suspension, self-exclusion, or completely close your account.

Unaccepted Payment Methods

  • Bank Transfer - Other bookmakers, such as Paddy Power and Betfair, offer bank transfers as a payment method. This is usually a slower method but with a higher deposit limit. Tote doesn't offer this method.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay - With Tote, you can only deposit using a card directly, even when using their app. This is less convenient for an initial deposit, as you need to make sure you have card details to hand, but your details can be saved to your account for future deposits.
  • Paysafecard - Paysafecard is a form of pre-paid card that can be purchased with cash and used online. It is commonly accepted with other sites such as 888 and Ladbrokes.
  • Cash/Dedicated Card - Larger gambling sites such as Coral and Bet365 offer the facility to apply for a dedicated card that allows you to access your funds in-store and online. Tote does not offer such a facility. Cash betting is available at a racecourse but is not linked to your online account.
  • Credit Card - In the UK, credit cards are not available for gambling purposes.
  • EWallets - ewallets are mentioned in the terms and conditions at Tote, but customer services confirms that debit cards are the only currently available option.

Change Log

  • 25th March 2024 - Removed ewallets as a payment options following confirmation from Tote customer services. Updated minimum deposit to £5. Updated screenshots to show current site design and terminology,
