This is because if there were only a single winner, the 3 doubles and the treble would be classified as losing and not return anything. No single bets are present in a Trixie, unlike the Patent, which is a Trixie plus the 3 missing single bets.
The Trixie bet comprises 3 doubles and a treble. The return is determined by summing all the winnings for each of the 4 bets.
