Arsenal's Summer Wishlist Explored With Transfer Guru Di Marzio

As another Premier League season hurtles towards its conclusion, the rumour mill has cranked into overdrive. Talk of summer moves and seismic signings fills the airwaves, and as ever, Arsenal find themselves right in the thick of it. With Mikel Arteta’s side once again falling just short in the title race, the sense is clear: this summer, something has to give.

We caught up with one of the most trusted voices in the transfer world, Gianluca Di Marzio, to get the inside track on who the Gunners are targeting and where the next marquee arrival might come from.

Arsenal’s Number Nine Hunt Still Features Newcastle’s Isak

Arteta’s side have been irresistible at times this season, more so in Europe but their struggles in front of goal during key moments have exposed the glaring need for a clinical number nine. According to Di Marzio, that’s exactly where the club are focusing their energy.

“Arsenal need a real number nine,” he told us. “They’re still monitoring Alexander Isak, who could be on the move. Both Arsenal and Liverpool admire him a lot. But Viktor Gyokeres is also on their list, and he’s having a phenomenal season in Portugal.”

Benjamin Sesko is another name being circulated, while Victor Osimhen – expected to leave Napoli – is reportedly admired in north London. However, Di Marzio believes the Nigerian might be heading outside Europe.

“Osimhen has offers from Saudi Arabia, but United and Arsenal have looked at him. Still, I think the Saudi clubs might win that race,” he said. “Then there’s Vlahovic – he’s expected to leave Juventus and could be a serious option for Premier League sides.”

Arsenal’s Have Competition In The Hunt For Nico Williams

While the need for a striker is obvious, Arsenal also felt the sting of Bukayo Saka’s injury earlier this season – a reminder that top clubs need quality in depth across the entire frontline.

Enter Nico Williams. The electric Athletic Club forward has drawn admiring glances from several top European sides, including Arsenal and Chelsea.

“Berta [Arsenal’s Sporting Director] knows Williams very well – he even tried to sign him for Atletico Madrid,” Di Marzio said. “Chelsea went for him last summer and with Maresca coming in, they’ll likely go again. But Arsenal are very much in that race too.”

Williams, known for his blistering pace and direct play, could add a new dimension to Arteta’s attacking options.
