The XFL was a minor American Football league launched in 2020 by Vince McMahon. It's inaugural season was interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the league filed for bankruptcy in April 2020. In August of that year the league was purchased for $15 million by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia and returned to play in February 2023.

Vince McMahon previously launched a league of the same name in 2001, which ran for a single season before folding.

In 2023 the XFL announced a merger with the USFL which was formally announced on the 31st December 2023. The 2023 XFL season has been cancelled, and the newly formed United Football League season is due to start on the 30th March 2024.

Season Structure

The league consisted of 8 teams, split into 2 divisions of 4 teams, an Eastern and Western division. Each team will played 10 games each over a 10 week season. They played the other 3 teams in their division twice, once at home and once away, and each of the teams in the other division once.

The top 2 teams in each division will then competed in a 2 week post season single elimination bracket to decide the season winner.

Betting on the XFL

Betting on the XFL is in its infancy as the league is only two seasons old, but the bets are similar to any other league. For example, you can bet on individual games or place futures bets on the league winner or MVP.

The XFL has been keen to integrate betting, partnering with Genius Sports to provide betting data. The XFL also has an agreement with DraftKings as the official Fantasy Sports provider for the league.

There are also in-house gambling options with the XFL. Using the PlayXFL app, fans can predict the scores of games each week for the chance to win cash prizes, and fans attending live games can play a 4-Question Pick'em to win merch and tickets from the home team.
